Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Applied Science

 

Equivalent in size to two A Levels.

 

8 units of which 6 are mandatory 2 optional units with 3 of the mandatory units being external.

 

• Mandatory content (83%).
• External assessment (46%).

 

Learners will study six mandatory units:

 

• Unit 1: Principles and Application of Science
• Unit 2: Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques
• Unit 3: Science Investigation Skills
• Unit 4: Laboratory Techniques and their application
• Unit 5: Principles and Applications of Science II
• Unit 6: Investigative Project.

 

External assessment is either written examination set and marked by Pearson. (units 1 and 5) or a task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions. (unit 3)
